It’s almost fall. I’m sure demand for convertibles will pick up any day now.

You could buy a rusted out NB with the markup on the first one.

Me looking at those prices.

I bought both of my NAs for less than half that markup total.
![]() 09/11/2017 at 17:48 |

you can buy a non rusted one too

Wow! This dealer has a very loose relationship with reality.

Rusted out?

That’s like 30-40 mins drive from the dealer. No rust at all it seems.

Wow. I thought those were CAD for a second.

In canada a loaded mx5 non rf is like 45k

That’s STi money right there. If I had the money for that I’d rather pick up a WRX, mods and save the rest of the cash. Hell, I’d rather pick up a used M3 for that hahahahahaha
![]() 09/11/2017 at 18:00 |

And being in the remote, remote rural area that is the SF Bay, uneducated internet-averse customers won’t have any other choice when it comes to getting an MX-5!!

That’s some good drugs they’re on.

Maybe they’ve been running the cars in the showroom.

My local Mazda dealership will give you a $5000 discount if you buy a 2016 MX-5 right now.

Oh look, an idiot dealer! Since the 18s are coming, you’d think that they would come off the markup...nope.

...while huffing paint.

It’s crazy. In fact, there’s a Mazda dealer in Burlingame barely 15 minutes away and they’re doing a $1000 mark down incentive on their Miata Club soft tops rather than a $1910 mark up. Their RFs certainly aren’t going for more than MSRP either. Just fifteen minutes away!

I mean there’s a Mazda dealer literally (and I mean literally) 15 minutes up the road from this one doing a $1000 off incentive on identical 2017 Miata Club soft tops. They don’t have markups on their RFs either.

I will never believe an NB is rust free without a scope of the inside of the front chassis rails.
![]() 09/11/2017 at 18:18 |

For $4200? Not anywhere salt is a thing that’s used on roads.

And?
![]() 09/11/2017 at 18:21 |

Wow. I hope you actually laughed in their face
![]() 09/11/2017 at 18:21 |

And nothing. It’s a big markup.

I mean that car’s probably seen less than 2-3 weeks of rain per year its whole life and probably never been anywhere near snow or salt. Due diligence is due diligence though.

At first I thought this must be in Canuskistan rupees, but nope, CA.
I love Mazda, but short of a new rotary-powered super car, I can’t imagine a one that deserves a dealer markup.

That’s not exactly a California car though.
I’m not saying that its impossible that the frame rails are rusted, its just way less likely in this case.

Some car dealers really do hit the crack pipe when it comes to pricing.
When I bought my Mazdaspeed6 (the only car I’ve ever bought new), the closest dealer insisted on marking it up $1200 over MSRP— and that was for the color and options I didn’t want (but was in their lot). They claimed Mazda wouldn’t even build the color I wanted as a lie to try to get me to buy what they had rather than ordering one. Instead, I bought the color and options I did want out of state for less than MSRP.
I don’t think I shall ever buy a brand new car again, and the insane pricing games are one of the reasons why. (I also enjoy not stressing out so much about a used car that already has some cosmetic blemishes.)

Heh. Cross-shopped those idiots, found an RF near Fremont for $3K off MSRP. 5 miles, fresh off the truck with wrappers and all still intact.
